Bordeaux vs Rennes – 31.01.2016 / France
BORDEAUX
Things were looking so good for Bordeaux in 2016, as they were playing mediocre football but were getting positive results. That is until the Cup game away at Lille, in which they used the best possible team but were still clearly outplayed (lost 5-1).Keeper Carrasso suffered an injury last round and it seems he will miss for the rest of the season. This is a major blow for Bordeaux, especially since substitute Prior is way below Carrasso’s level.
RENNES
Rennes mildly dominated last week against Gazelec Ajaccio, but most of their actions ended when trying to enter the penalty box. The opponent concentrated forces in defense and made it extremely difficult for Rennes to advance. The winning goal arrived late in extra time, but was fully deserved (Rennes won 1-0).Although they scored only once last week, Rennes’ offensive potential is extremely impressive thanks to skilled attacking players Ntep, Grosicki, Dembele and Boga. Rennes can take all opponents by surprise and can be extremely effective against teams who open up and advance.
