Guingamp vs Bastia 11.03.2017/ France
Guingamp comes into this match after an satisfying draw away from home against Montpellier last weekend. The game itself wasn’t very interesting one as neither of the teams attacked a lot, with the players of Montpellier taking the lead in 50th minute via Mounie, while the guests only risked more towards the end and deserved the goal in 85th minute via Briand.
This result broke their mini-streak of two defeats, previously to Monaco and Bordeaux, as the side now stands at eleventh position at the table, having thirty-five points earned, which is eight more than relegating worried Dijon and even though they are on a good position, the team can’t take completely relaxed their schedule in next weeks. Defensive midfielder Baissama Sankoh (12/0) is doubtful, while injured remain left full back Dorian Leveque (2/0), offensie midfielder Nicolas Benezet (5/1), goalkeeper Romain Salin (1/0) and forward Sloan Privat (12/1).
Bastia, on the other side, comes from a goalless draw in front of own fans against St Etienne last weekend, result that extended their streak of winless matches to eleven matches in all competitions, ten in Ligue 1. The game was pretty uninteresting one and was determined with the fact that the hosts stood playing with a man less since 44th minute.
However, the guests stood playing with a man less as well, since 66th minute when defensive Lemoine got excluded, with neither of the teams actually willing to take the risk and attack fully towards the end of the game. Bastia is now second from the bottom, having just two points less than play-out placed Dijon and three points below safely placed Nancy. However, with 2-1-10 record for now on the road, it’s hard to see them getting away with something here.
Important players, central defender Nicolas Saint-Ruf (10/0), defensive midfielder Yannick Cahuzac (21/0) and right back and sometimes central defender ALexander Djiku (14/1). Central defender Sebastien Squillaci (10/0) is injured, same as forwards Sadio Diallo (24/3) and Enzo Crivelli (17/7). Other central back, Florian Marange (18/0) is doubtful with a ankle injury.
Bastia is more than a poor side away from home and when looking at the individual quality of two teams, I simply can’t see past hoe victory here. With couple of important players out (defensive ones), I can’t see them making surprise, while the odds are acceptable at the moment.
