West Bromwich Albion vs Tottenham 15.10.2016 / England Premier
On October 15th, Tottenham travel to the
Hawthorns to take on West Bromwich Albion. After their huge victory
against Manchester City, Spurs will try to keep their unbeaten start to
the season going as they travel north to take on Tony Pulis’ side.
The Baggies are off to a pretty decent
start to the season, with only two losses in their first seven matches.
No team has drawn more games than the Baggies so far, although three
other teams have also drawn three matches. They’ll be looking to turn
some of those draws into wins, but they’ll take anything they can get
against a very formidable Tottenham side.
Team News
West Brom go into this match with a full
squad, according to Physioroom.com For Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino
has said that Moussa Dembele has had a setback in training and will
likely miss out of the game on Saturday. Harry Kane is progressing well
and looks set to return to training next week, according to the Daily
Mail, but he is still going to miss out against West Brom.
Interesting Statistics
Tottenham have won only one of their
last six meetings with West Brom, including not winning either matchup
last season. Last season Tottenham went 1-0 up then ended up conceding
and drawing 1-1 in both matches.
Spurs are yet to concede a goal from
open play this season and have the league’s best defence overall
conceding only three goals in seven matches. While they haven’t been as
good as Spurs, West Brom have been pretty solid defensively this season
too conceding only seven goals, the joint fourth best in the league.
Key Players
West Bromwich Albion: Nacer Chadli
After three seasons at Tottenham, Chadli
left North London to go to West Brom. The Baggies broke their transfer
record to bring the Belgian international to the Hawthorns and he has
been worth his £13m price tag so far. The Belgian started his West Brom
career with a bang, scoring twice and assisting twice. He also scored
the team’s only goal in their 1-1 draw prior to the international break.
His goal scoring prowess has helped a team that has lacked goals the
last few years, especially with the ongoing problems with Saido
Berahino. Between Chadli and Salomon Rondon, West Brom have goal
scoring weapons, which gives them a chance against teams like Tottenham.
Tottenham Hotspur: Son Heung-min
After a poor debut season in England,
Son is delivering on his reported £22m price tag. The South Korean has
scored four goals and grabbed two assists in the Premier League alone.
He has taken up a new role as striker with Harry Kane out and has found
some success up top. He is in fantastic goal scoring form and will
hope to continue that with a few goals to make sure Tottenham secure the
three points against West Brom.
